I was just looking on e-bay for a 1903-O Morgan. There was one listed graded by NAC. I haven't heard of them before, have you?

Treat the coin as if it's raw, since NAC is most likely a basement slabber. I've never heard of them though.

From reviews.ebay.com: Quote: NAC is a new grading company to come on the scene which appears to operate in the same fashion as GEC, and sadly many people are paying HUGE prices for coins that are, in my opinion, VERY over-graded. In one recent auction, a Quarter Eagle Indian Gold piece that had clearly been cleaned and had at best XF/AU details sold for over $1000!! The buyer will be in for a rude surprise when they find out the value on the coin is about $150-$180! So PLEASE exercise caution when buying coins graded by no-name, fly-by-night coin grading companies! From what I have seen, NAC is drastically over-grading coins and people are still buying them so beware! I'd say you should run quickly the other direction!

Follow the industry standards such as the Greysheet's (Coin Dealer Newsletter) listing of TPGs. Their weekly lists the ratings of the most respected TPGs in the hobby. They list PCGS, NGC, and ANACS as the top 3.

Hi all. As a new collector, I too purchased several coins graded by NAC. Once I learned a little bit about grading;(very little, I am still a novice)in my novice opinion, several XF and AU Morgan dollars were clearly over-graded as MS-66. Does anyone have a copy of or know where to find NAC grading standards? Additionally, I bought several of these from Rocky Mountain Mint. When I approached them, they were extremely helpful and offered my money back plus a willingness to even pay the shipping. Kudos to Rocky Mountain Mint. Thanks, I am now concentrating on NGC, PCGS and ANACS rated Morgans.

Quote: Does anyone have a copy of or know where to find NAC grading standards? Basement slabbers don't really have "standards". Just stay away from them. If I were you I'd learn to grade and authenticate to a certain extent, that way you won't have to only buy slabbed coins.

Every coin IS a first strike. Before that First Strike, it was just a planchet.

Quote: Conder101: Every coin IS a first strike. Exactly! Just as HSN's lawyers would allow them to say... And (in HSN-ese) how you can grade business strikes "PR": "PR" is an abbreviation for "pretty".
