All I can find in my Greysheets is Good through MS-60 Type Coins.

Twenty Cent Piece

VF 145.00 to 160.00

XF 190.00 to 210.00

Hope that helps.

This is the last coin I bought for my 7070. I spent quite a bit of time looking on ebay. It is hard to find a nice one in the higher grades. I wanted a full Liberty to consider it XF as well as a decent strike (these are commonly weakly struck).

I finally bought a PCGS XF-45 for $255 from a dealer. This was probably early this year I think?

I'd say you might find a raw XF for around $225 or so if you are patient. Unfortunately, they are few and far between and sometimes the nice ones get bid up. Seems like there are a lot of raw coins that I'd probably call XF that people call AU and get $300+ for.

I think you can probably get a VF example in the $180-200 range. Again - will require patience to find a nice one.

Good luck with your hunt - I found this to be one of my tougher coins to buy.

Ken

A couple of years ago I missed an opportunity to get the perfect one for my 7070. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but I did not realize how difficult to find and undervalued (by the price guides) it has become. Not purchasing it is probably my most regrettable decision.

Jbuck,

I've been in that same situation. Faced with slightly over paying on something by like 10-15%. Sux when you make the wrong decision.

Went to a show once and a dealer had a PCGS Slabbed, 1875 CC 20 cent piece that graded MS63. We had been sitting and talking for about 20 minutes before he pulled it out. He had brought it to trade another customer for something. I just remember staring at it in awe. It was brilliant with full luster, White with just a hint of blue/pink Hue. I asked what he was selling it for. He told me the book value and I nodded, then he told me the price tag, just under $10k.

I really wasn't surprised though, he told me a person will go 20+ years and only see one of a coin like this, with that toning, in that grade, from Carson City.

Needless to say I thanked him thoroughly for sharing this coin with me and the opportunity to see it with my own eyes. I dont remember what he was getting in trade though, I think it was like an MS Seated dollar, or proof Seated dollar or something.

I wish I had asked if I could take a pic of it. lol
