Okay I have about 30 different Jefferson from about 78 to about 90 I'd say from mint sets. Well I know from mint sets.

My problem is do I buy another Dansco and start a AU/BU Jefferson collection or do I buy a whitman/harris type folder and go that route.

If they were yours what would you do :)

If it were me, I would not put any BU coins in any type folder.

I guess you have to decide if you want to start a set of AU/BU Jefferson nickels.

Also you should consider the proofs. My favorite coins in the Jefferson
Dansco are the proof westward journey nickels.

A BU/proof set is a very very nice set, I am very happy I did mine.
One of the last coins I needed is in the mail a nice 1939 D ($76.00)
I will need to upgrade a couple that may be AU and find a 2007 proof,
I have a 2007 proof set but do not want to break it open just for the nickel.

I am sure I have over $400 in my set, just to let you know what you might be getting into.

Well they are all in mint cello but by them selves. I'm working on a Lincoln AU Bu for the most part set in a 8100 Album. I plan on buying mint and proof sets for that one so I might as well after some though do the Jefferson too.

I think I would listen to Justcarl and pick up a Whitman album. He has used them for years and had no problem. In fact, that is what I am doing now for my budding typeset.

Not a big fan of the Whitman as you can't see the back of the coin. I have used the Whitman for circulated sets.

Whitman albums are like Dansco albums, you can see both sides. Whitman also makes folders; there is confusion when people just say Whitman without stating which Whitman (folder or album).

I would not put them in a folder. I would put them in an album, whether it be a Whitman or Dansco. My choice is Dansco. I know you like Dansco, so go with your gut and get another Dansco!

My thoughts on the album/folder topic is if you're pulling from circulated rolls to put together a set, I have no problem with a cheap folder, in fact I'd hate to be popping them in and out of an album to compare or upgrade, the sliders would get scratched up. On the other hand if you're buying BU/Mint set coins you could go straight to an album.

My personal plan is to get my circulated set completed in folders and then make the jump to a Dansco when it's "done". But if you're actively upgrading regularly, I don't like the idea of using an album.

But...a great piece of advice for you "Collect what you like, how you like." Enjoy the hobby.

I bought Lincoln's and Jefferson books a few months ago when I started collecting. I first went pretty heavy into Lincoln's, but man am I on a Jefferson run now. I bought the 7113 and I'm really glad I did.
