hogskins2win...not sure where you come up with Buyer Protection being a fraud...I've used it three times with great results...full refunds for counterfeit coins totalling over $1800. Maybe you've not had the same results, but it sure worked for me.As for molydeii...take your refund, it won't do any good not to.

Yes refunds is a function that works on e-bay, I used it once. However, I believe that "Buyers Protection" should also include removing counterfeits when they are picked out by browsing educated buyers. Have you ever reported such activities? Just last week a post on this site asked for advice on a coin. The unanimous consensus was counterfeit. This was followed by a post claiming that they reported it to E-bay. So I went right up behind him and reported it too. This coin was a mid-range semi-key Morgan dollar from a seller in China without a score of 0% (no other sales on e-bay). I watch this coin for over two days as the bids increased and it finally sold.... a fake, a fraud, an allowed counterfeit! Here is part of E-bays lame standard reply to my report. Because we're concerned about the privacy of all parties involved, we won't be updating you about the status of our investigation. Even though you'll receive only this acknowledgement of your report, please be assured that we'll thoroughly investigate the situation. So I don't know would you call this buyers protection? Maybe after they get the listing fee and 10% Sales fee!

Okay I know I was venting a bit there. Please don't get me wrong. E-bay is a wonderful place to find superior deals on coins. But to the novice attempting to start a coin collection it can challenging. Just as anything else in society they are a fair amount of money predators there perpetrating frauds. Nonetheless, I don't want to stroke it with such a broad brush. E-bay still remains the single best place to find super coin deals. The caveat is still buyers beware!

Guys, took your advices... I let it go. I won't think about it anymore. Didn't ask for a refund, perhaps it is lost, perhaps not but 45 dollars won't hurt me that bad. The person I am dealing with is mentally disturbed I think. He has sent me how he is afraid of getting homeless in Denver and how his family rejects him, and how "wealthy evil foreigners" hurt America, etc. Below are just some lines from his last email. I have closed the dispute not to get any more emails from him. "My father died and then my mother died. They left me nothing in the will, and gave everything to my wealthy sisters who refuse to speak to me. So any communication, even from dangerous people who rip off sellers who are 100% honest, ... is better than being ignored. ebay multi millionaires decide to take my paypal funds and give it to some rich guy in a foreign country My paypal account is frozen because you filed a complaint. My feedback is ruined and you ruin what little is left of my horrible life. You don't know what problems are until you live in my shoes. In this country there is no family network for many of us who have been rejected by dysfunctional families. My own sisters reject me and leave me to die of poverty on the streets in old age" And more.. " I am very near to being homeless from poverty. I am very very old , in very poor health with a bad heart and severe hearing problems, and not able to survive on the streets. It is freezing in Denver and I have no place to go. No one in this country cares about poor people like me. I get treated like total garbage. by comparison .....Compared to my psychopathic sister, II consider you to be friendly. At least you care enough to write a hate mail and threaten me, and to me, that's an improvement over the family I grew up in......Anybody that would consider you friendly must be really desparate for friends , and I am. That's how bad my situation is.." Guys, I will make no more comments. I am just a buyer that let the seller know my item did not arrive. :)) Now I am laughing at all this. :)

Wow. the guy is definitely not stable. Molydeii, let me be one of many millions of Americans who want to apologize to you for the actions of one of our countrymen. Please consider the source. I'm glad you rose above the pettiness and chose to forgive and forget. (We're not all like this!) Nice work!

Really good point Adam_E, we don't know! What is he selling? Maybe we need to shower him with love and bids. Really man, lets love not hate, celebrate life not death! Gosh man.... that sounds really mushy coming from me! I am getting soft in my old age.

AdamE...I believe he is lying at the least...how can you be near homeless and have a computer and internet connection ? But for someone to fake being that unstable...well...they would have to be unstable anyway.

Yes, he is most probably lying about many things. He has some 1000 feedback but most of them are coming from selling books and ink cartridges, not coins. In fact, I couldn't find another coin offered by sale from him. I've probably got ripped off by him, maybe this is a new ebay technique, but nonetheless, not receiving any other email from this wacko worths 45 dollars. Moe145, You are very kind, thank you. I know most Americans are very honest and reliable people with a good sense of humour. I've traded, bought and sold many items from and to, even with many Americans in the past. I've even lived in Massachusetts for a while. Almost all Americans I met were decent people (but the world was a better place back then! :)) I've got many American coin buddies online and offline. This guy is just one person, he can never change my point of view towards a nation. We have wackos and nutties here too. I'll see if I can get some of them on ebay to compete with this guy. :)

He says he's going to be homeless, not is homeless. And why would he lie? The case is closed; nothing more can be done at this point. He's just venting.
Is this guy unstable? Yes. Should you do business with him? Absolutely not. Is he worth pity and cutting some slack? Certainly. I will pray for this guy, and the others like him out there that are suffering from the morality crash.

Bizarre story - can anyone remember 10 years ago when ebay was a nice place to buy and sell? Dont think they will ever return sadly since both ebay and Paypal just seem interested in making larger and larger profits. Thats why they are happy for counterfeits etc to be sold - fees make profits. My Paypal account has been frozen for the last 4 weeks while I proved where I live - as I have cable and no telephone landline I had to wait for them to send a letter to me - it took a month for it to arrive and all the while Paypal held the £750 I had in the account. 10% of Paypals profits are made in this way - by holding and earning interest on users money. On another note I was looking at the items this seller was buying on ebay - mainly digital cameras but his last purchase was a house! - so presumably the 'about to be homeless' thing is correct. molydeii I think you were just unlucky and dealt with a man at the end of his tether. We all know how that feels and just how crazy the world can make us.

oh by the way he sent me that email before the case was closed. I closed the case and didn't ask for a refund. Still no coin and I doubt it will ever arrive.
