Quote: @halfhunter, didn't canada stop in '66 with the silver? No it extended to 68 actually for dimes and quarters. I know my 67 canadian mint set is silver, some of those were 80% and 50%, so from what Iv been told most of the 67 stuff trades at 65% silver value. I think for 68 as someone else said stick a magnet to it. The quarter I found was clad BTW. So Id say overall with canadian stuff magnets are your friend for identifying the silver stuff. Iv got a little hoard of canadian silver halves, dimes and quarters. Some of my dimes are pre 1920, I think that stuff is sterling.

I'm new to the coin collecting addiction, but quickly finding I love the quarters-they are so much fun! I like the older ones with all the details in the eagle-before the State Quarters, but will spend just as much time examining a State Quarter too! I also love the quarters because I can actually SEE them and not feel so old! I have yet to find a silver quarter-before I started looking I probably had hundreds! But, each day there are new opportunities (it was before my time, so I feel behind!) Thank you for this thread, and I will be happy to stalk and learn from you all. Please keep posting!

Thinking about doign a quarter bag or maybe a bag of dimes. anyone have thoughts on which would be better? either way - its $1000 tied up. I was leaning towards the dimes.

In the final bucket of quarters out of my sixth bag overall of quarters - finally - a silver! One lone 1954, but I'll take it. Six bags: one silver, one proof, two non-Canadian foreign - no more than one find per bag. Still fun!

Grabbed my first box of quarters. Was fun even though no silver found. What does everyone do about ATB and the 2009 quarters because of low mintage on most? I kept a couple of nice examples of each in both mint marks and tossed the rest. Anyone else do anything different?

I'm sure I have some 66, 67 & 68's!
