Quote:Wow! Some really nice finds on this thread. I bought a roll of shrink wrapped quarters from the grocery store, but it was all clad coins. However, there were some ATB's and nice older dates in there. Should I keep them? I've been keeping the quarters from the late 60s and early 70s that had lower mintages. I don't know if it will matter in the long term, though. Its getting harder to find quarters of that vintage.

searched my dads coin stash over the weekend. It was only about 8 lbs of coins tops, maybe less. I could not believe it when I pulled a silver quarter out . That was the first one I've found. I'm calling it a loose coin find :-) Sure, it came from my dad, but he was just going to deposit it anyway, so I think it is a legit hunted score. Crazy enough, next handful, I grab out 2 quarters, put them next to each other to check rims, only to find 2 more silvers! amazing! Haul was 2x57d, 64d. Also got a brazilian coin in there, and 2 wheaties. I claimed he spiked it, but he swears that it was nothing but the plastic container that he dumps his change in :-) I've been trying to motivate him to hunt, maybe this will help.

Quote: whit3, what dates are those specifically, the 60s and 70s ones. The ones I've been pulling out are the 68-P and 68-D, 69-P and 69-D, 70-P, 71-P and 71-D, 72-P and 72-D, and the 73-D. I've been keeping track and out of roughly 2000 quarters I've searched in the past two months, I've found maybe two of those each except for the 1971-P and I've only found one.

My parents are buying a car today so I went with them to the bank to get some quarters while they were getting a cashiers check. I got $80 in quarters and found nothing.

I keep the 68-69 and toss back the 65-67. I think I got up to a roll of each 68P & D, 69P&D and tried to keep best condition I could find. I have not seen decent 68, 69 in a long time. They tend to be very worn.

I don't think that I have ever done a box of quarters before. Is it a good idea? I have't done any boxes since last summer so I don't really remember. I am pretty bored this summer and I'm thinking about starting back up.
