llewellin - I'm confused. I thought business strikes were the coins put into circulation for business. What do they call regular coins used for commercial purposes?

There are two types of "business strike" (non-proof) coins minted.
There are the normal business strikes. Minted at the highest speeds, minimum strike pressure, and handled with little care.
Then there are the Uncirculated Mint Set version. Minted at slower speeds, higher strike pressure, and handled with more care.
The quarters minted for the annual mint sets use the latter.
The quarters minted in San Francisco (non-proof) and the annual "circulating coin" set use the former.

After 10+ years of CRHing, and at LEAST $10,000 in quarters later...last week I finally found my first silver quarter in $120 in CWR. 1942D!!  I just about screamed.  |

I picked up a few quarter rolls today--looks like they were all somebody's dump (unrolled ends of machined, shotgun rolls). The only non-shotgun roll was all 1976--bicentennial, P and D. I looked though for any S mints, for doubling of LIBERTY, and anything else unusual that I could spot. What else should I look for regarding errors or varieties of 1976 quarters?

I am in shock I got a few 2015-D Blue Ridge Parkway quarters nine days ahead of the official release date at my work. About 80% of the quarters are brand new in each roll.

 that is really weird. Maybe they were released for circulation before the actual release. |

It was just one roll too I took a look at the other rolls of quarters we got in.

Found some more Blue Ridge Parkway quarters at work. Apparently there was an early release. My LCS was offering up to four for face value as they always do the latest National Park quarter release. Amid the new quarters I found at work was a 1983-P cull quarter that I had saved just because it is the year I was born but also found a 1983-D quarter in pretty good shape that rated an AU-50 with a Grey Sheet value of $7.50, I was told!

Nice date to find  A story of silver hunting quarters from my past. My grandfather had laundromats when I was a kid. I would go to work with him during summer days to help out with "collection day." Basically it was emptying the machines of their coins for the week. I never will forget the sound when we got home and would dump the quarters onto a large sheet of plate glass to listen for the silver ring. When the proper note was heard we would stop pouring and look for the coin. To make sure we missed none we would spread the coins out single layer on the glass and hunker down to peer at the sides while looking for the telltale lack of copper layer. It was rare not to have at least one show up back then, but people were already hoarding silver. How much squash could a Sasquatch squash if a Sasquatch would squash squash?
