I am thinking about joining NGC for one year to send in my unslabbed error coins. I have many coins that are valuable enough to slab, and supposedly I would receive 5 free submissions with my new membership. Has anyone sent error coins to NGC? How does their service for error coins compare to the other companies. Would I have to pay an extra fee for errors? I am checking their site as we speak, but I cannot find that tidbit of info. Thanks for the input!

They do not carry an extra charge. If you look under website under "Services" go down to mint errors.
When I read the description on the website it didn't make sense to me, so I got out the sheet they sent with my membership and it says:

Mint Error

Tier Price: According to tier chosen.

Estimated Turnaround: According to tier chosen.

Requirements: NGC examines non-proof US and World Mint Errors and assigns a designation. Coins will be encapsulated at NGC's discretion. Also, choose a grading tier according to coin value and desired turnaround

The website is missing the the non-proof US part.

(Your free submissions will be early bird submissions, so it pays for itself and then some to join)

Thanks for the help Christina, I feel much better about joining! Are you happy with your membership so far? Are they ever late returning coins?

So far I have been happy with the service. After you join, they send you a coupon for 5 free early bird submissions. Early birds are usually $30 a piece, so if you get the $99 dollar membership, you are actually getting $50 worth of grading free.
As far as "returning coins late", NGC does not guarantee their turnaround times for specific grading tiers. I sent 5 coins in to NGC in July for Early Bird, which is twelve days, and the turnaround time was 19 days at the time (I didn't want to wait the 31 days for economy service and I actually got them in 15 days). You can always check on their website for current turnaround times.

I know Bryan uses NGC also, so maybe he will be along with his opinion.

Any more questions just let me know!

also if you have any Morgan or Peace VAM's then you may want to check and be sure they attribute that specific VAM # because NGC and PCGS just attribute a handful of them whereas ANACS attributes all of them
