If a note's SN starts with 99 does that mean it was cut from a sheet post BEP? I found a one dollar bill that starts with 99 and it is normal in every other way. Just wondering, thanks,

Yes. And since most people don't pay more than face for an uncut sheet then cut it up it was probably done by someone other than the person who purchased it.

No, it does not necessarily mean it is from an uncut sheet. notes starting 996 and higher are from uncut, 995 and lower are normal.

I think its only 96000000 and lower. Instead of going to 96000001A it goes to 00000001B

Staring in the late 80's numbering goes to 96 Million for 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20.

For 50 and 100 it's 99.2 million.

John is referring to a $1 note in his OP. What's the series John?

I'm confused is this about a 90 serial or a 99 serial?

John, you are confusing the series with the serial number. The series (date) is 1999 the serial number is G90743969I so that one wasn't what everyone thought you were talking about
Rest in Peace

If this helps, I am looking at my series 1999 $1 32 note sheet hanging in my office now and the serial numbers go from A99373765 in the upper left to A99993765 in the lower right.

Bryan1315,I know what the diff is between series and serial.
Ceylon62 asked what series it was and I answered it was a 1999. I just wanted to know if my note was from a sheet or is it just a high S/N. What about the dark ink? Thanks all.

This sure made me think you were saying this notes Serial Number started with a 99 but it is a 90 not a 99. The only thing that is a 99 is the series which is 1999

How could he ask you that when what I just quoted was your opening response in this thread and you asked about a SN that started with 99 right here "I found a one dollar bill that starts with 99" and no one has asked you anything before you said that because they didn't even know you were starting this thread until after you typed that in because it was your opening response

I am not trying to argue I just don't understand why you would say you had a note that the SN started with a 99 when in fact it started with a 90 and the series is 1999 if you understood the difference

My apologies to all, I mixed up the date with the S/N .
Thank you all for your input. I'm still wondering about the S/N and the seals ink being darker then normal. Thanks again,
John1

The series 1996 and onward nexgen notes (Big heads) all have considerably darker ink. Makes me wonder if the ink for the new notes were mixed with the small-head notes still being printed at the time.
