I have been mulling over the idea of getting dansco albums for my coins now for a few months and found a site with free shipping thanks to some people on here! The only thing that holds me back is the fact that all I have I find from circulation My Jefferson nickel set, even my silver roosies and JFK's my pennies are brown for the most part, not red I get the best grades I can pull, but the coins for the most part aren't gonna be show quality In my eyes I love them, which I know is all that really matters but I was just wondering if some of you guys store your coins in these albums and maybe if you guys think the whitman folders I have are good enough for the coins I find. I want something I can be proud of and don't want to look dumb when I show off an album with all these not ms 64 coins lol thanks guys slash

I think regardless of the grade a dansco gives your coins a better appearance. Even if you fill it with circulated coins, when it comes time to upgrade, you will already have the album.

I'm a 2x2 kinda guy for anything I think is keepable. I have folders but have mostly emptied them as I didn't like what 40 years was doing to my pennies. Preservation first, display? ... a far second. If you want albums, do it. I wouldn't care what others thought. It ain't about them. On the Dansco site they even say "for your unc's" Bah! It's like they don't want the bad rap of lowly coins touching they precious albums. Do your thing. I'm doing mine. 150th Post!

I have two sets of things.... the circulation finds all go in folders (even walkers!), and I have a nice set that goes in the albums. That is not to say I have not put circulation finds in my albums if they are really nice. Just my idea on the matter...

Quote: I want something I can be proud of and don't want to look dumb when I show off an album with all these not ms 64 coins lol If I ever got around to photographing my Dansco albums, you would probably feel much better about this. My collection began with me filling folders with coins from circulation. I started my move to Dansco albums almost 26 years ago, keeping the same coins. I have not upgraded any of those coins, so you can probably guess where this is leading to. I love my coins. The sentimental value is far greater than the numismatic value. That type of value, in my opinion, deserves a good home. Quote: I think regardless of the grade a dansco gives your coins a better appearance. I agree. I believe my nice, brown Lincoln cents and gently worn Jefferson nickels look nice against the dark beige pages of the Dansco.

The way I see it is this............I paid for the album so I'll put what ever I want to in it. My Ike's, Peace, Morgans are all circulated in my dollar album and so are most of all my Lincolns.

Don't listen to all those DANSCO people. Get yourself some of those fantastic, wonderful, beautiful, Whitman Albums. Dansco people are wantabe Whitman Album people you know. Are they worth it? Of course if you want to look at all your coins at one time, show them to someone, protect them from wandering fingers, be able to see both sides of the coins. As to those folders. Those are for real amatures or kids. Please note the method of putting a coin in them is to press them in with a finger of thumb. And the ones that are excessively worn fall out so most people wet the backs of the coins so they stick. Note the shinny back to the slots in a folder. That is the glue from the manufacturing process which really doesn't help your coins at all. If money is an issue, you may want to try coin stores or coin shows and ask for used Albums. Usually much cheaper and in some instances, free. And remember Whitman Albums are blue so brown coins stand out better than an Album that too is brown.

I have some Whitman Albums. I love them! They are pretty easy to insert and remove coins from and the hole sizes are pretty much spot on for coins in decent shape. I have not tried to put in any near slicks.

I also have and enjoy my whitman folders. I do want a dansco for my stacks of kenndy's but every time I get the $25 I find a coin I want more. Maybe Santa will bring me one. I also have sets in whitman folders but will try to get albums and give the folders to my nephew. Albums protect better. But to answer your question don't worry about anyone else do what makes you happy!

Personally I would keep the coins in he folder and use the album money for more coins if you're not too worried about presentation although in the end it'll be up to what you like and want.

Buy one Dansco and see if you like it. They are generally well worth the price.

I prefer the Dansco for my AU/BU Stuff. I go by the looks of the coin. I have several AU/BU brown Lincolns now as far as Everything 1945-Present I want them Red. I save all my keepers if in really good shape lets say fine and above in 2x2s in a 3 ring binder. The stuff I like to call ash tray coins go into coin tubes.

bought 3 danscos and would've bought 4 but the site I used was all out of Roosevelt dime dansco albums I said screw it I never buy anything for myself so whats 70 bucks After shipping all 3 came to 67.76 pretty good price, in fact the best I could find and I did free shipping, and all kinds of other sites the place I choose was wizard coin supply I had to pay shipping but it was 10 bucks for all 3 albums the price difference between that and vernon coin center with its free shipping it was still a better deal to pay the shipping at wizard coin supply I hope it isn't against the rules to write down where I bought the albums, or sites that have them, because I noticed other posts that mentioned other sites are gone now? hmmm well I hope everyone reads this before it gets taken down if thats what this site does I'm not promoting anything just saying where the cheapest site was that I found...will update when the albums come in and show some pics when I get some coins in them Cant wait and thanks all for your inputs

I dealt with a very old collection stored in folders, and the reverse of those coins was so horrible that I want nothing to do with folders ever again -- no matter how safe you tell me they are. The horror of those BU Morgans with muddy brown reverses... ugh.

I would love to see a picture of what an album does to coins after 40 years. The only reason I say this is because I haven't seen it before.
I have some G4 Lincolns in my Dansco. I'm sure most people would shun these things, but guess what - I don't have a better coin and I want that spot filled!
