Hi All
It always surprises me the coins that show up in circulation. It made my day when I got this 1993 S at work. Not everyday you get silver quarter much less a Silver Proof.

I always wanted to know how one knows if a circulated 's' mint coin is silver. Both regular proof and silver proofs are marked with an 's' so is it by weight?

HI Captainkurt
Im no expert, I usually tell by look of coin. Weight and tissue test are two methods. Also the side of coin will be white in color.

Since the 92+ Silver Proof coins are 90% silver, you can usually just look at the edge. I would still weigh it to be sure.
