Is it me or folks all of a sudden paying more $ for un attributed "graded" Morgan (64) coins on ebay recently? The silver craziness is out there too but that should just add less than $10 at max to the price (my 2 cents).

To me it seems the prices are up about $20 plus for coins in grades of 64 OR were prices out of whack during July / Aug / Sept 2010?. Thanks

I think it has more to do with silver prices and just plain fear. I have noticed that all anyone has to do these days is say the word "Silver" and people instantly become "coin collectors" and know that with 100% certainty that since it is old and silver it is worth a whole lot of money.

For example.......... My aunt offered to sell me her worn common date Morgan and Peace dollars she has for $100 each. When I laughed and told her that I had some I would sell her for $75 my uncle (her brother) chimed in with "Those old silver dollars are worth at least $150 a piece, if not more!"

the last few Morgans I have bought have been allot less than what I would have paid a couple years ago. I bought a 1878 VAM-83 in MS-65 for 800.00 and then any 1878-P would have been over 1000.00. And I bought a VAM-70 for $180.00 in MS-64 and then they would have cost around $250.00. I also bought a VAM-81 in 64 for under 200.00 also, these were all graded by either PCGS or NGC and unattributed on the label but back then even at those grades they would sell for more. Maybe its just readjusting itself because maybe people are buying for Christmas or maybe there are more jobs out there somewhere (Don't know where)

I don't think its an adjustment as much as they are hyping to buy silver and gold and hold it in hand...AFTER ALL GOLD HAS NEVER BEEN WORTH ZERO!! as the adds say....And its also true that there are those agencies that try to hold or minipulate pricing......at national levels the money is phenominal profit margins.. for us average joes I play it like the smallest violin, playing my heart bleeds for you....

Wow....(no blood letting required here buddy), these are only coins.....I highly doubt that that the price of silver and the collector value of these MS-64 coins are even remotely related, (other than in the sense that both silver and collector coins are financially volatile commodities to differing degrees).

If the price of silver is even a consideration to you (when looking at purchasing an MS-64 Morgan), I would not classify you as a collector, but rather a speculator, and not a very good one either (until silver prices rise to well over $100 an ounce).

WOW. I won't say such a bashing. but............I am certainly not a collector for profit. And I do not follow the silver or gold market to wonder what all the commercials say, "GOLD HAS NEVER BEEN WORTH ZERO"...what a joke......Not at you, but that the prices are changing......and ITS not correct.....these same coins are now up....+++++ does this mean everyone is collecting Morgans? I think not...I simple meant I think its market orientated, and PLEASE don't think I am authoritative....I haven't sold a coin yet,,,,I do see the price changes and have to wonder if they are provoking a buying scare
to make people buy to buy....Yet in my $20 or $60 limit. I still to have to wonder on pricing and why.....Marketing or Fear? its beyond me......But as you and I have a mind I still do question......I'm not rich but I am not ignorant or the markets influence...
