ANACS has this deal where they grade 10 coins for $10 each along with return shipping. When I wanted to send a bunch of my coins, many friends suggested not to use ANACS due to their super conservative grading. Has anyone here had a problem with using ANACS? What are your opinions about using ANACS?

Thanks

I never send coins to Anacs. But when I find a coin in their slabs I bought it.I bought recently two of them and find them undergaded. So it' s a good deal as the other two companies have a nice premium on their slabbed coins

I have used them and have not had any problems. They are very good at variety attribution and for considerably less $$ than either NGC or PCGS. Plus, they frequently offer special pricing, which the other two rarely have. Here is their current special pricing deal:

I have used ANACS before also and if its for a coin that I plan on keeping or if its a coin that I just want to prove authenticity on I will use them again. I have found their grading to be strict right now especially on classic coins not sure about moderns so that may be what your friends was talking about. I don't know if I would use them for a coin I was going to resell unless as I said above it was just to prove the coin was authentic only because NGC and PCGS sells for more money usually

It is true that Anacs can fetch lower prices than the other big two for the same grade point. That said, I think they grade coins well, and I'm not convinced that, with time, Anacs won't catch up with the other guys.

It's preferable, by the by, that one think of them as too conservative; for a while there they were criticized for being too liberal with their grades!

As silly as it sounds, much rides on the look of their slabs, which have greatly improved.

Most cost efficient of the TPG's.
Never had any problems except for an undergraded Morgan.

Although I don't have the experience alot of you members have, there is something about the ANACs slabbed coins I just do not care for. Perhaps its just personal preference or appearance. I still concentrate on the coin, regardless of slab because I do have a couple.

I have used ANACS in the past without one problem. I would definitely use them again. They are reasonable with their grading and it didn't cost too much.
