Has anyone seen this before? The whole space between the horizontal bar and upper loop of the 2 is full of a die chip and is raised higher than the numeral. Clashed die with N and T letter transfer on obv that I attempted to capture. The ear is doubled more like a machine double. Back of cap shows a doubling line like a counter clash. Reverse has 2 olives and typical clash on r/s as viewed along with eagles right wing.

VAM 45 has the filled 2, however I believe there are more, but I don't have my book right now, its packed, so It can't track it down yet...and there are 6 or 7 die states for VAM 45.....check for a rev 10 degree rotation....

So VAM 45 is just another catchall for a whole bunch of different die pairings that share similar characteristics (like vam-1)?

yes it is Variations of the sister VAM 26....however VAM 45 has many die pairings, and some do not have the filled 2....When I first found my VAM 26 with a 10 degree rotation, which is characteristic of the VAM 45....I thought maybe I had a new coin, but the 1902-0 studies were almost complete, and my new found discovery was changed...such as it will be with many of the years which have gone unresearched at present....the good thing is, this year has been studied, AND it it still open.. to new things....and yes Zee my buddy...Vam 45 seems to be quite a multiple orgy LOL of die pairs so it seems.......I still have to wonder are these really (as I don't have the 1902-0 book in front of me)...are these really different pairs, as this study is quite extensive, and VERY detailed...you can count the pimples...LOL///meaning the different sub-scratches and polish marks which differentiate these die pairs..?HU*MMMMM
But it is as I have reviewed it... very good.......not just another pimple counter...
He is working on the 1904-0 series now, and making changes as the proof of the previous listings are now revealed....

I forgot, some VAM 1 coins have the filled 2 also,,,,,
and yes ZEE it still defies logic, in that the supposed basis for assigning numbers were intended in the beginning to be die/pair based .....things have strayed from those original principles......

define VAM, The only appropriate answer today is
Van Allen and Mallis........
