I guess I'm evil! I just won a bid from jojax22 and no intention of paying! You all know the scam: "MS67 valued @ $1500!" even though I "won" it for $3.50. I intend to wait until ebay contacts me for not responding to the invoice, then will send them quite a bit of insight into jojax22 and co. It truly is sad and shameful that this ilk get to harvest the rubes while so many reputable vendors continue to play fairly. I just hope my protest falls on recpetive ears.

I notice that this person charges $5.50 for shipping. I guess that way they can still make money. Looking at these coins, looks as if all came from rolls at face value. So you slab a half dollar, sell it for $3.00 and get $5.50 for shipping looks like a good profit of $5 to $6 per coin.
This is just a quick peek of the positive feedback, past month 395, Past 6 months 969, Past 12 months 969.
Seems as if this person has found the perfect get rich quick scheme. Sell vastly overgraded coins to a bunch of people looking for something for nothing.

heydave56, this is an interesting aproach you are taking to get Ebays attention. We will all be anxious to see how this works. We know from past experience that e-mailng them is an exercise in futility! Thanks for making the effort. Mike

Welcome to the forum! Sorry you had trouble. Here is the post taken from your email:

I'm very disappointed! I logged on to ebay for the first time and after a couple of times I finally won a bid actually three in a row. I was very excited and thought I had a great deal. I also realized that my three bids were won from the same seller. I kept thinking why would someone sell something of that value with no reserve and take a chance. Hind sight. If it too good to be true then it probably is. I also thought certainly that if it is on ebay that it is good. I purchased three coins from Todd Bond of O'Fallon, IL (a.k.a.) jojax22 that I've been reading about in your forum messages. I haven't received them yet. When I do, I will send them to PCGS to have them re-graded. I'll let you know how it goes.

It wasn't until after I sent my money that I decided to search the Internet for the Gallery Grading Company. That's when I found this coin forum. After reading the messages I did some further research. There is no registration of incorporation with the State of MO. The registration number given in one of the messages doesn't exist. There is no phone number given anywhere from a search on the Internet. However, from a link provided from a message on the forum there is a phone number and a web address given for the administrator of the Web page for Gallery Coins at www.dnsstuff.com under whois. Which I'm sure you already know. I did call the Chamber of Commerce of New Madrid. They said that Gallery Coins was owned by an individual and they speculated that formal business entity papers haven't been filed with the town. They did say someone is operating as Gallery Coins from that address of 400 Main St. They said the building is being remodeled and that it has apartments either upstairs or in the back. They also do not have a phone number registered with the Chamber. The owners name given was Steve Ward.

I agree that ebay does need to do something. It doesn't leave a good impression for a first time ebayer. I think a seller providing misleading information of a value from a possibly known speculative appraisal company with intent to mislead is considered fraud. It also gives coin dealers a bad name. I'll let you know what my re-grade come out to be.

Ebay is a place where education and caution are a must. Unfortunately, it is not improving; in fact it is getting worse. The fact that NGC and the ANA have now coupled their names with ebay makes it appear that ebay has a credibility that it simply does not.

There are still good, honest sellers on ebay, but it appears to me that they are dwindling as it becomes easier and easier to make a dishonest profit.

I'm glad you found us and hopefully you didn't lose too much money.

Hi jit523 and welcome to the forum. You are not alone. Your 100% right when you say that someone new to ebay sees all of these "scarce", "rare" and "valuable" coins at such low prices! Plenty of scams. Many collectors new to ebay get burnt. I've been burnt so many times I'm toast.

Hey folks, FYI: I have received an unprecedented third reminder from good ol' jojax22 that I haven't paid for my coin yet (you remember, the slabbed trash labeled MS69?) Anyway, this has yest to devolve into a reminder from whomever at ebay itself, which I was thinking should have happened already. Gee, maybe this goof thinks he really will get something from me? In any case, I will keep you apprised of the situation.

Hello all! I just received my 4th request for paymment from jojax, and then got a notice from ebay about paying this creep. I realize that many of you may find this a bit tiresome, but here's my reply to ebay on this matter. Regrettably, I sent it prior to coffee and it's not my best writing. Still, I hope the impact will not fall on deaf ears. here it is:

Dear ebay,

I made this bid specifically to get your attention by not paying for this item. This seller is a shady character making a mockery of respected, well-intentioned sellers of coins on your service. For crying out loud, a coin valued at $1500 with an opening bid of 1 cent? Perhaps this is a clever parsing of words, and this one coin itself was not really worth that much... Or perhaps the valuation of such coins by a truly low-rent scam certification service really indicates that "grading is subjective"? Nonsense.

Look at the spurious satisfactory responses supposedly garnered by this vendor. Notice how many of them are duplicates from the same buyer? Show me ONE respectable, knowledgeable coin collector among them. Even disgruntled words translate to a positive in this ludicrous tabulation.

Listen: This vendor is a slur on your name. To permit him to continue such scams is only contemptible. On behalf of good buyers and reputable vendors, stop this character now. His activities are a sad joke at best and should not be tolerated on your site.

I am curious to see how ebay reacts to this. The two sellers who sell GGC coins have been reported many, many times with nothing done. This is a different approach. Hopefully, they will not simply give you a black mark. It would be nice if this actually made them look at the auctions (but unfortunately, I wouldn't hold my breath.)

Hi Y'all. Newbie here. I'm not much of a coinf collector. I just buy like 1st year coins or whatever so I can pass them on to my daughter. And yes, I made the mistake of buying a coin JoJax22 before I looked up Gallery Grading Company. BTW, his perfect rating it no more, 4 complaints in the last month. Auction just ended today 8/2 and when/if I get the coin I have a friend that owns a coin shop and can send coins to the PCGS for me. I want to see if the 1979 SBA Dollar lives up to it's MS-68 Grading. One cent for the coin, $8.48 for shipping and insurance. I'll keep y'all posted on that one because after reading this forum, the guy sounds like a rip off artist. But I always remember one thing, what goes around, comes around. I sell on ebay (No Coins) and I treat my customers right, have for four years and I earned my 100% rating.
Anyway, nice to meet y'all

http://cgi.ebay.com/2005-D-BRANDED-...cmdZViewItem

They'll do anything to sell bisons....

Remember that the REAL grading companies do recognize at least 2 and PCI 3 of the Bison error varieties right now. These are real and collectable IMO.
