Anyone know anything about a "strait 7" dime found in 2007 Unc sets? I would like to know how to identify a strait 7.

It's "straight" and it refers to the descending right stroke of the 7 being straight line or a curve.

They are also in the (mint)uncirculated sets.I don't believe the curved 7 was meant for circulation.(Correct me if I'm wrong)

It's an interesting year.
In addition to the curved versus straight 7 (reverse), the mint logo mark has different sizes on the obverse.
Which begs the question, do either of the two possible mules exist?

Dialog gvf: when you say different size mint logo , do you mean on the dime only or is this found on other coins from that year as well?

I don't know about other coins, but the mark on the obverse of the curved 7 dime (at least on the specimen coin) is much smaller than the one on the straight 7 obverse. The straight 7 one almost touches the bust of the Queen. But the curved 7 one is far from the bust.
I think this is the same case with the uncirculated set curved 7.

Canada always has a new, interesting varieties. I'm guessing the curved 7 is scarcer?

yes, its always cool to find a new variety. Its my understanding that the strait 7 is the harder to find.

The straight 7 is not a scarce coin. They were used for circulation and a different strike in the hockey sets and the occasion sets plus the xmas tree set for the year of 2007.Also it was struck in the Proof set [%92.5 silver].The only thing scarce with the straight 7 is in the 7 coin, black envelope polyfilm uncirculated set. This topic will always have a level of confusion due to the different coin finishes, logo size and the 7 its self.

If anyone has a copy of Charlton's 2009 63rd. edition, look on page 87. Quote(3. 2003WP and 2007 Cr7 ten cent coins are currently found only in uncirculated sets for those years.) Maybe this has been updated,I don't know. Circulation=304,110,000 St7 N.I.I. for Cr7 Hope this helps a bit.

Right, as far as I can tell: * These issues had the straight 7 dime: Baby, Gift, Congratulations, Holiday, NHL, O Canada, Wedding and Calendar sets, and circulation strikes. * Only the 7-coin prooflike, and 9-coin [Olympic] prooflike sets contained the curved 7 dime. * Not sure about the proof set -- curved?
