Hmm... I can't find a thread on "cool dollar roll finds!". Obviously nobody searches these looking for silver-- but I've been plodding through these rolls trying to complete my SBA and Presidents and Sacagawea sets-- and found my first NIFC Sacagawea today! 2002-P, and very tarnished, but at least I got it at face.

Maybe I'm just easily impressed, but I thought it was cool.

So is anyone else out there going through these rolls? Having any luck with the NIFCs?

To me I think its a waste of time to search them, there overly abundant and not being used except train stations? Only thing I think would have any value would be some errors but still not worth the time

Well, there is the remote possibility of finding one of the 2000-P Cherrio's Pattern dollars in the boxes of dollars. Since no one knew at the time that they were pattern dollars, there's the distinct possibility that some of the people that received one just spent it, in which case there may be some floating around in the many thousands of boxes/bags of Small dollars sitting around at various bank and Federal Reserve locations. Granted the odds of finding one are remote since there were only 5,000 of them, but the possibility is there and isn't that what we're all looking for? Here's a link on identifying them:

Some may think it a waste to search these, but I've found a Thomas Jefferson Presidential minus the edge lettering. Nice surprise.

Perhaps you have just started it!

I have not searched any rolls in a very long time, so the obvious answer is that I have not searched dollar rolls.

However, I am now tempted to get a roll for searching and spending. If I enjoy the process, it could be come a regular thing.

I like the SBAs, Eisenhowers and Sacagawas. I have several businesses save dollars, half dollars and anything that looks unusual save them for me. And even though they aren't worth anything over face value they can prove to be refreshing to deal with and collect rather than the common battle axe quarters!
