Pictured are 2 1974-D cents. the one on the left is properly toned and the one on the right is a deep deep red almost black color. Was this an improperly annealed planchet? Is there any added value to something like that?

I believe it has just toned differently. Possibly in a bad environment for some period of time.

That's all it is. Improper storage near something that turned it dark.

The lighter one is a large date. The smaller one a small date. Both are common for this year.
