As you will see it is mostly from the 1950s-1970s era. My grandparents travelled the world. The pics are mostly 1mb+ so as I have not had the chance to resize them, I'm just going to link to the directory. The first two pics are of some canadian thunderbird coins, they ended up in the upload que and I haven't removed them yet. (they look a bit worn so I'm guessing melt value only on those, altho flash makes them look worse than they are) and then there are a set of seven Pasteur francs and it gets more varied from there. I had no idea there was such a thing as a Japanese Peso, but it makes sense that it would be from a Japanese occupied territory. I'm not seriously trying to sell any of these yet, I don't think they can help me make my rent. I just thought it would be nice to share some high res pics with a community and see if there's anything rare or interesting for people to see. If there's anything really really valuable of course, I wouldn't mind knowing, but I don't expect it. www.televangelism.biz/public - unless the last image in the list is 58, don't click it, I'm setting the upload que before going to bed and attempting to view an incomplete file will result in errors all around. after the pasteur notes the pics follow the convention of a picture of one side, then a picture of the other side of the same notes, in that order throughout. ooooh the Pasteur notes! I love the Franc notes of the 60s and 70s. Some of the better quality ones bring in an average price of $20, if you're interested.
And weren't the Thunderbird Vancouver coins quite rare? I remember there was quite a premium on them when they first came out...

Please remember InheritedTooMuch is a New Member he/she is checking for values and to see "see if there's anything rare or interesting" If this turns into a buy sell fest the thread will have to be deleted

Yes, I just want to know what I have. If it turns out I have things that I should sell (I'm not in the best financial position right now anyway) then I'd buy a sponsorship and head off to the trading section.
ETA I think the note is pretty cool and goes along with the Pasteur francs nicely :)

BTW, you are not able to trade until you have at least 50 posts and have been a member for 14 days

Not exactly in a rush to start trading so that doesn't bother me :)

Now I see the reason for your nickname! But isn't it fun that now you can play with all of it? Take time to study each piece, the symbols, the people, the events on it ... My coin collecting started with daydream-travelling.

svslav: you haven't seen the can of international coins yet... lol
I'm going to read up on as much of the historical personages and events as possible. It's a really strange feeling to hold something in my hands that ywas passing around the world since before I was even born.

On one hand it's nice to set a goal and scrupulously build a collection, coin by coin, or note by note.
On the other hand (just once) it would be great to walk into a stash of treasure, and get to know and organize it. Guess I'll give such pleasure to my kids. Or grandkids, my older son has started collecting alongside with me.

That's a great collection to start with. I see that most of them are in well circulated condition so I wouldn't be overly concerned with wearing gloves to handle them. As you said, just wash your hands and dry them thoroughly before you do. I would suggest that you gently straighten out the corner folds (you're hardly going to cause much extra damage to them) and they'll look and store better. Here's a link to a previous topic on storage, to which I replied with some images on how I store my collection (although the binders are now under lock and key and not on display as illustrated). https://goccf.com/t/61909
