1981 Penny...need Help - Coin Community Forum

John1 Moderator United States 56855 Posts	Posted 12/02/2010 7:10 pm Up until 1990 mint marks were applied by hand so there could be a little tilt to some of them,yours looks to be in the allowable range so no premium,sorry. Scooby Due Pillar of the Community United States 4000 Posts	Posted 12/02/2010 7:11 pm Nothing unusual really. Up until 1990 (I believe), the mintmarks were hand punched on to the dies creating all kinds of distance and orientation to the date. Report this Post to the Staff
