Found this one out of a bank roll a little bit ago. It has me stumped. It has concentric circles on the obverse. Anyone ever see anything like this? I don't know what to make of it.

The reverse is unremarkable.

Very nice find. I found two of them awhile back but mine are not as major as yours.

Very cool! Thanks everyone for the info! Definitely goes into the keeper pile.

Any ideas as to how scarce they are? Are these worth any kind of premium, or are they just an oddity with cool factor?

This is a cool variety, in how it documents a stage in the die production process.

Whew, I just had a scare!

I had set this coin on my desk while still loose. I got busy doing other things and then this evening, I discovered that the coin was not where I remembered putting it. I started panicking slightly thinking I had somehow thrown it into the copper jug or accidentally thrown it into the junk Zincoln pile. Or worse yet, it somehow managed to find its way into one of the packages I had prepared (which were already dumped off in the drop box), since I use the same desk for ebay shipping. Or perhaps my wife took it thinking it was change or something like that.

After about 15 minutes of searching, I finally found it sitting on the kitchen table (no idea how it got there). Boy did I learn a valuable lesson about not taking care of roll finds right away.

I've had that scare. I keep containers around just for these issues so a coin in question doesn't dissapear. My 2yo daughter likes to carry anything loose to her "pig"- piggy bank.

Something odd about these is that 1996D is the only issue that I am aware of that shows these lines.

I found a number of them in a few original rolls about a year ago and still have a half dozen or so of them. If anyone is interested in them, please contact me. I saved them just for that purpose. $5 each delivered gets yours, nicest examples go to first requests.

Just wanted to join the lathe marks club. I also have a 96 D with lathe marks. Just adding to the tally!
