I'm looking to purchase a 1941S Mercury dime. However, I don't know the difference between the small and large S. Does anyone have a description or better, pictures for comparison. Edited by KenRingold 12/09/2010 3:34 pm

I was looking at what turns out to be a small S priced as large S. There are a few on ebay grading from XF and up but most are way overpriced. Thus wanting to know the difference. Thanks for the link. Great page, and what I was looking for.

When you see them side by side you can definitely tell the difference between the two. There are photographs of the large and small "S" in the Red Book also. Good luck finding a spectacular 1941 S dime!

I looked in the RedBook for a picture and didn't see it. I'll have to look again.

I looked again in my 2010 RedBook and I still found no description or pictures. On page 20 it briefly mentions them but that's all.
