Excellent! I must say, the 1893 doesn't look that bad. Yes, there are those gouges, but they aren't in that bad of a place, kind of blends in with the hair insets. They still stink, but they could be on the cheek, or somewhere distracting. I like it.

You keep mentioning that the set is circulated....how many folks have ever completed an MS set? How many folks ever complete a circulated set for that matter? Must be quite a sight....I'd love to see them all. I would also like to see one of those monster threads on Morgans like Moe does with CBH and Seated coins.....I would imagine that nearly everyone (other than me) has at least one Morgan, and you could be the insurance that every date and mint mark would be represented.

zeewool - I'm sure there are some collectors with very deep pockets that have a set of MS Morgans - none of them run in the same circles I do though. :) As for seeing them all - I have my set posted in the member photo galleries here in the forum. I just scanned the album pages - obverse first, then flipped the coins, and scanned the reverse. I think if you click on the picture it will swell up so you can see each coin in more detail.

Quote: I'm sure there are some collectors with very deep pockets that have a set of MS Morgans Yeah, I know a few of them.....but there are not too many....deep pockets don't impress me....conviction does, and you have got that... I'll check out your gallery, but I think that a thread where others can (and probably would) participate, might be more fun.

The warning post will go up by tomorrow, and the thread will start Tuesday hence, allowing 1895 to fall on New Year's Eve when I'll be the only one here anyways.

Great to see a morgan set finish. I am amidst the early stages of my morgan date set, which is my very first set so seeing such an accomplishment is motivating. Do you know what you'll start on next?

A complete Morgan set is quite an accomplishment. It's probably the toughest reasonably acquirable set to finish because of so many semi-key dates. It took me just under ten years from the point I began the set to the point I finished. Your 1893S looks great. The contact marks really don't take too much away from the coin. Congratulations on the completion. I can't wait to see it all.

Hey guys, thanks for the compliments. Matt - I seldom set my sights on a particular set - got a few that I'm working on, but I prefer to just shop around till I find a coin I need (and can afford) and try to add it to my collection. KenKat - yep, they're pretty heavy, but they're housed in the two seperate dansco albums so they're managable. In truth, I think my set of ASEs is heavier, and they're all in one album. littleboy - I started this set back in early 2005 (you could still pick up common dates for around 12 to 15 bucks back then) and I've just sort of puttered along, waiting and watching) until I finished - as for seeing them, I've posted the set in the member's photo galleries. mrh70 - it's not a set that can be put together overnight, but it can be done if you're patient (and persistant).
