There was a pattern made in 1873 that matches the first coin.

That said, I've got to think it's almost certain that these are fakes. There's only a handful that exist.

Nope; my gut tells me that he is, in fact, a bumpkin.

I've no doubt they're fake - study the denticles/rims - but not offered with malice.
