My guess would be that PCGS might be about the same or perhaps 1 point higher. Is there something going on with the right wing and what's with the nostril and lips? Pointed bust - nice and is this a VAM?

I don't think theres anything going on with it,just poor quality pictures and contact marks on the holder.Although the nose area might have a rub mark.I would be afraid PCGS might downgrade it.

OK...so why would you think PCGS would downgrade and Bryan too! The marks/chatter/wear? I thought about that too! Must not be a VAM if Bryan didn't have any comments! I was just thinking that maybe PCGS would upgrade from the old "green" card standards.

I think that I've said this before but, I won't buy (or try not to) buy any Morgans where there are marks on her face. To me that's just a protected area. I would pass on this one no matter what the grade. Sorry my friend! Is this one already in your collection? The reason I'm asking is because I know that you take better pics!

Deb,
This "green Lable" isn't PCGS's green lable. Its ICG.I think they might downgrade it because they tend to downgrade everything in the high dollar rare coin class. No,this one is not mine (yet) you have to make some sacrifices when it comes to 1892,93,94,95 Morgans as far as "marks on the face" because if your only going to purchase ones with no marks, you better be much better off than me finically, your going to have to pay in the Thousands of Dollars for them, but to have a MS date set then this one is good.

I just saw this thread is why I haven't commented on it, I am not sure about any specific VAM # because the pictures aren't clear enough to actually see the details. As far as grade I would say PCGS would probably go 62-63

PCGS' current grading standards are the tightest they've ever been. Rattler upgrades are no longer likely. It flat sucks that they ever loosened their standards at all, but I think it was probably a reaction to the overall quality of submissions. For the first few years, all the nice coins were submitted to get into that newfangled slab thing, and once all the real gems were in slabs, all they got were the relative dogs. I would imagine there was a point reached where very few of their graders had ever seen an honest 1992-era MS67 - the overall standard lessened because there were so few true gems with which to compare.

Now they've tightened their belt to the point where it's a wonder they can breathe.

Understood! Thanks guys! Yes "T" I knew that it wasn't a PCGS slab. But, that's ok, you didn't know that I knew! It's still a pretty coin and no I probably won't be picking up too many Morgans - only here and there. I can take a few smudges on the face but, nothing major like dings, heavy rubbing and so forth. Yeah, I'm picky! ;-)
