Did you find this in circulation? If so, that is an awesome find! I'd say F/VF details corroded for the grade.

Should be around $2 melt value. Nice find! Wish I would get those in change these days.

I'm shocked that you didn't run back there and buy more stuff just in case the register was full of those. Many times someone reaches in a jar of old coins laying around the house and starts spending them. Worth a few minutes to try.

Some people just have all the luck! Wonder how many hands it went through before it was noticed? No need to answer that, just a thought.

I'm thinking this one was in some topsoil for a while, possibly potting soil.

Nice find! And it is in pretty good condition also. Congratulations. I love finding real silver coins in circulation! Recently I found a Walking Liberty half dollar that I received in change (I asked the cashier if he had any half dollars and dollars in his till. But, that is about the only silver coin I have ever received other than a few Roosevelt dimes many years ago.

I love getting coins like these as well, its just cool to think how old and how far they've been. I work in a grocery store handling change all the time but usually just come across foreign coins.

now one question, most of the black came off with water, but is there any safe way to remove the rest? I figure its just dirty since it is silver, but I don't want to hurt it. any suggestions?
