I had to share this for the holidays:
Every year since my daughter was in kindergarten, my wife & I have been preparing large quantities of pumpkin bread to pass out to friends, family, co-workers, etc.. It's become a regular assembly line based on the volume of bread that is baked.
Anyway, a couple of years back, as I was really getting into the roll searching, I decided it would be nice to thank the local bank tellers that were assisting my endeavors with ordering boxes of halves, cents, dollars and especially those that were on the dumping end (I noticed the tellers scatter when I walked in with my heavy bags in each arm), So after the baking was complete, I took a couple loaves to each of the banks as a "Christmas Thank You."
Last Monday, I was dropping off a couple of loaves at one of the banks. I had called ahead and ordered a bag of pennies to keep me occupied for the next couple of weeks. I got the bag of cents and just casually asked if they had any half dollars available. The teller went in the back to check and came out w/ a bag of them. I paid her for everything, wished them a Merry Christmas, and threw the bags in the back of the car. When I got home and was carrying the two bags in, I couldn't help but notice a couple of silver looking objects in the bag of halves.
I conducted my search on Saturday morning an was shocked at what was in the bag. Here's a breakdown of dates and the half dollar count:
1969: 60
1968: 126
1967: 119
1966: 18
1965: 14
1964: 4
The total count of the 90% & 40% silver halves was 341, or just a hair over 1/3 of the halves in the bag! With the current spot price of silver, and the face value of the remaining halves, my $500 purchase was worth just over $1,820.00.

To top it off, also in the bag was a General Motors 50 Million Cars medallion of some sort and a car wash token for a local car wash.
If anyone is interested, here's what they look like:

I hope the rest of the CCF members have a Merry Christmas too.
