I've got a new album,and my 2X2"s don't seem to fit
in them.I have several proofs I'd like to put in them,
but I'm afraid to take them out of their safe place.Do
you think it will hurt them if I place them in it without
the 2X2's.Thanks,:) sn31.

The Proof surfaces are extremely susceptible to damage. If they're low cost coins, then it probably doesn't matter. I've put in several Proofs into my Dansco 7070 album. Just beware that when the slide moves over the coin, you WILL damage/hairline the surface.

I had that same problem sn31. I had to cut the 2x2's to fit. I don't know why those holes are smaller. Remember to use those white gloves and touch only the rims of your coins. ;-)

In all honesty, I wouldn't touch a Proof outside of the container it arrived in. I'd handle an MS69 coin raw, but not a proof. Maybe it's just me.

I'll answer that question for sn31. It's a World Coin Archival hard bound album from Littleton. They send little sleeves that are open on one side and then the coins are suppose to slide into the page slots. It doesn't exactly work correctly. If she could seal the little sleeves that would be ok. I'll see if I can find her some of the 1 1/2X 1 1/2's and see if that works.

Sn31...what do your proofs come in? Can you just slide them in the way they are without taking them out of whatever they are in? Air tites will work also but, you have to be very careful like Prethen and SuperDave suggested. Maybe you should just use the album for your circulateds and not for the Proofs.

I think you're right on only circulated coins.I was going to attempt to put at least one proof per country, but I don't want to risk it.Thanks for your help guys, and gals. :) sn31.

sn31...can you heat seal the little half flippy things and then put them into the slots? I didn't mean for this to be so much trouble for you. :-(

sn31, why don't you contact Littleton and explain your problem and may they will replace or give you some guidance from their prospective. Personally, I would never remove a proof coin from the original holder as another forum member stated.
Good Luck,
Berry

Oh,Debbie it's okay.I just got to figure it out. Most of my proofs are in 2X2's,I just don't know how good it will look it I cut them up,I want them neat, pretty, and organized :)I definitely don't want to hurt the surface of the proofs as Prethen warned. Some good advice Berry,I was thinking I was going to have see if they sold extra sleeves, because there isn't enough for all the countries specified. It's going to be fun putting this together Debbie,I just want to do it right.Charley I'm sure will enjoy this too :) sn31.

I guess what is claimed to be 2X2 holders.I wasn't aware there were
1 1/2 X 1 1/2 untill Jim mentioned it.
If they'll work it will be worth transferring them all for the sake of the proofs. :) sn31

Guys...she didn't buy anything. I sent it to her for her birthday because she collects World coins. There's got to be a way to make this less cumbersome. I have one of the albums too. That's a good idea though to contact Littleton and see what they would have to say. The pages are smaller than an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet or I would suggest getting some of those and replacing what she has. This will work out - somehow.
