Wow! What a bummer!!! I've got a complete Sacagawea set with proofs in a Dansco album - same thing with my SBA set, my ASE set, and my Ike set. All uncirculated and proof, and in Dansco albums. I've been very careful in handling any coin, should I have a need to take it out of the album, and, NOW, I find that I have been damaging my proof coins, and probably my uncirculated coins as well, every time I slide the plastic in or out of the sleeve. I guess the only to preserve them is to just not remove another coin from an album. Thanks for that info Prethern.

If they'll work it will be worth transferring them all for the sake of the proofs. :) sn31

Thanks Jim.
Yes Ralph, you sure learn alot on this forum from other members. If there is on thing I've learned here,is to ask before I leap.I'm happy I've protected my proofs,no matter their value, they are pretty special to me...:) sn31.

Ralph, you MAY damage your coins with the plastic slides. There is no guarantee that you have. Just use extra care and try to keep the sliding to a minimum.

Also, try to ensure that the coins are not flush with the slide. If the slide doesn't touch the coin, it can't damage it.

Okay,I figured this whole problem out. There were some extra little sleeves that came attatched in 3's,that easily pull away from each other, that slide down into the slots for these coins. It doesn't solve the "proof sliding" problem, but will be okay for circulated coins.I may have figured this out sooner, but apparently my toddler grabbed them, and took them to his favorite hiding spot.I also found my extra set of keys,my brush, and a half empty bottle of sprite..the little stinker :) sn31.

Sounds like your little toddler is already a pack-rat and is well on his way to being a great coin collector. I'm so glad that you solved your problem with the album!
