Looks like the mint released the kid designed Olympic 50 pence with a 2009 and 2011 date.

So far, I have heard reports of the 2011 being out in circulation but not the 2009 one.

Does anyone know if the 2009 date one has been released to circlation or not?

When it was issued The Royal Mint announced that the 2009 dated coins were not to be circulation issues....

2011 is indeed circulating, called "Athletics" as part of the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

2009 was only issued in Royal Mint blister packs, strike grade "Uncirculated".
