2009 Kew Gardens 50 Pence

it has appeared on ebay for less than would be expected of one taken out of a set, so I think they are out there, but rare is probably the right word at the moment!

Thanks for the information....so maybe I can get lucky and find the Kew Gardens one in circulation.

Hello, I have one of these coins, I was given it as change in a shop and it looked especially shiny so I decided to hold on to it and do a bit of research. Feel free to email me if you are interested.

I find it hard to believe there are only 10,000 of those Kew Garden coins circulated because
a) quite a lot of those 10,000 will be UN-circulated as soon as they are found by collectors
b) I received one of them in my change in a pub last week
c) I've only come across 6 of the 16 different Olympic 50p designs in my change so far.

Now either I was incredibly lucky to find a Kew Gardens 50p by chance as I don't exchange that much cash (thus only finding 6 different Olympic designs to date), or there must be an awful lot more than 10,000 of them out there (especially considering how many of them are being kept by collectors).

The Royal Mint report contains details of all coins produced up to a cut off date (1st Jan?) They often produce more afterwards. Next years update may well increase the mintage for the Kew Gardens 2009 50p, even though they would have been struck in 2010/2011.
