I'm looking to inventory my collection. I want to do it on a excel based system. Would anyone one on here care to share a copy of what they made to inventory your coins. I've made a few sample sheets, but I'm a novice with excel and am not happy with them. Thanks in advance for any help. Jim

I am uneasy about giving out my personal excel book. Besides, it's probably too complicated. However, I can help you with any programming questions you may have to improve yours.

Here's a spreadsheet posted on this forum several years ago for the 7070 type set that I found useful:

You might be able to modify it to meet your needs.

Mine is very simple, with eight columns:

Date, Mint, Variety, Value, Date-Acquired, Cost, Grade, Other Notes.

No photos, no linking, nothing special at all.

Each Dansco album has its own sheet (worksheet in Excel) within the spreadsheet file (workbook in Excel).

I have one you can try. It has a tab for each denomination and some pull down menus. PM me with your email address.

I suggest you just try to make your own. That way you will have one you want, not what someone else wants. I started out with a simple one in Excel and it slowly grew and grew and grew. I ended up with columns for date, mint, grade, amount minted, date purchased, price payed, where purchased and approximate present value. Then too I had all the cost columns added up at the bottom. Then one day I sat down and said to myself, SELF, what are you doing? Why do I need all that STUFF. I didn't and most people don't so I started deleting columns. Now have a sheet for cents with a column for date, mint, grade.
I really never sell a coin so what difference does it make how much I paid for one. I don't care and no one else would as to who I got it from. What I paid a few weeks ago, months ago or 60 years ago are also really irrelevant. Makes little difference today. How many were minted? Again, just look it up in the Red Book. What is it worth. If not planning on selling, again, not important.
All I mean is just make a sprad sheet with what you like, need, want, etc.
