Howdy! This is my first VAM!

My coin looks like this example:

http://www.vamworld.com/1890-O+VAM-11

However, this die seems pretty busted. I showed my coin to two other people, and they both noted that the mint mark was strange. However, I don't see any comparable O/O VAMs. For example, there seems to be die chips or cracks on top of "DO" under the mint mark, several small beads that remind me of slag from welding, and what I think some have called die rust. I'm sorry the holder is a bit dirty.

MUCH LIKE VAM 11, 21 and 22,however 21 and 22 have doubled profiles which we can not see in these photo's but perhaps you can see in hand..vam 11 look's right if no doubling is not present in hand...

Okay, in hand I can tell what is left of the doubling on both the cap and nose. I found two pieces of the thread that was pointed out, it is worn. 22 it is! But wait!

My mint mark is not the same. I keep going back and looking at it... is it damage?

It looks like post mint damage on the mint mark in the photo if we are talking about the lower part. The more you look at coins you will see some strange things and most are PMD.

The mint marks in your second and third pictures are in entirely different places.

Yeah, I settled on 22. Though worn, I can see traces of the "thread" on the Eagles wings. The doubling is rather obvious.

Thanks!
