I just purchgased this book at the show in Columbus... what a great book. Very good for finding varieties. Anyone who likes looking for varieties and errors, I would definately suggest this book.

This book covers Half Dimes through gold coin.
1, 2, 3, 5 cents were covered in 4th ed, Vol I.

One thing I like about this is it shows you the prices compared to a normal coin. The other books just said "$75 XF, $200 AU". This one would say $"75 in XF, $5 normal coin, $200 in AU, $10 for normal coin"

I was previously unsure which VAMS carried big premiums... this one will show you pretty well. It has about 80 Morgan VAMs listed, 25 Peace VAMs.

Very good book...

I understand the book is great. I preordered mine over 3 years ago. I have been in touch with Mr. Stanton and Whitman publishing. I believe Whitman has started sending out the preorders.

I think they went wrong with the way they shipped the pre-orders, the pre-orders should have went out a month or so before any others went on sale and that should have been main priority before they even shipped them to dealers and resalers especially since they made everyone wait so long to receive their book, I mean 3 years....come ON! there is no excuse to make people wait that long with no explanation, then get books out to resalers before they get them to the people that have been waiting so long on these things

Just so it is clear Stanton Publishing was originaly producing the book. After many medical problems etc... and a real need to have this work published Whitman stepped up to to complete the work. I do not know what arrangement was made to get the books in the hands of those of us that preordered but hats off to Whitman for filling the void.

Thanks for clearing that up, I wasn't in the collecting world 3 years ago and I didn't know the full details of the situation, I just know what I have read through the numerous threads on different forums and articles in different publications

Althou values are listed in this edition I think most people use them as a very rough guide if at all. The book is a listing of the more popular varieties and not its intent to be complete. I would think to say it is outdated is like saying a 5 year old dictionary is outdated.
