EDS Vs. LDS, 1882 O/S Morgan

How do you tell the difference in Early Die State vs. Later Die State?
Referring to 1882 O/S Morgan. RedBook has the EDS at astronomical prices.
Unknown in UNC, it is at $3500 in AU vs $50 for the LDS.
I have a partially weakly struck one that is 58 or UNC+.

dunno, I have a VAM-5 on ebay right now graded AU-58 by NGC and dont know if its a EDS or LDS have always wondered though

OK according to the VAM book the EDS has a triangular dot at left side of loop opening and as a fine line in the middle. Now I have no idea what "loop" its refering to unless its the MM loop but that is just a guess. here is mine, if anyone knows if it is a EDS I would love to know

LDS VAM-5. The EDS versions have less detail, almost like a developing die break.

NGC has graded in EDS
VAM-3 O/S= 1-MS-61,1-MS-62,1-MS-63
VAM-4 O/S= 1-MS-63
VAM-5 O/S= 2-MS-60,1-MS-61,1-MS-62,1-MS-63
So they are known in EDS in MS grades

VAM 4 is the one that carries the big premium for EDS. 3 & 5 are anywhere from 2-5 times the value, depending on grades.
I wonder what the MS63 vam4 would sell for...

Yeah, I would guess that coin is not an EDS...

The highest VAM-4 EDS has graded was 2 AU55's and one is in Jack Lee's Top 100 set
