Hey all, I am new here, and thought that I would share with you all one of my coins. I mainly collect Canadian, Australian and German, and in this case, this is a U.S. coin. I went down to Virginia last year and I was in a park having a family reunion there. A digging machine was sitting in a ditch (that it had obviously dug for construction reasons) about 50 yards away, and as I was going for a walk with some of my family members, when something in a pile of dirt next to it caught my eye. It was this coin, and I assumed it was American by the stars on it, and the fact that I was in the U.S. when I found it. I could see the date '1846' clearly on it, and that it was probably silver plate. Unless it is worth something more than a few ounces of silver, I'm gonna bring it to the pawn near by to melt 'er down. use the money to get myself a cheeseburger and some fries. I hope you all enjoy this piece of scrap more than I do! Moved to US Classic Coins forum - Sap

Actually this is another one of those goofball posts. That is the image of a dime with the brown background and it is posted for sale here. The red flag for me was the wear vs reverse wear and the background is usually the same for a reverse and obverse images.

My lord..... Well, I have a big appetite, and I was expecting to only get one cheeseburger meal outta this...looks like I will be getting slightly more than I bargained for! I will immediately sell this thing on ebay or something of the sort, and most likely get atleast 1 grand for it (i will accept nothing less)...good thing I have ebay experience with selling junk yard car parts! I will purchase many cheeseburgers with this...hopefully, worst case scenario, I will give birth to another one and repeat the process! victory! (burgers 4 life) Thanks alot for the info, Adam; Impossibru

Well, without pics of your actual coin, we can't accurately value it - after all, if it's a ground find, it might have been damaged when it was buried and/or excavated. Quote: (i dont have a camera) You're going to need to buy or borrow a camera to take a picture of your coin to sell it on ebay, anyway - sales of coins must be accompanied by pics of the actual coin being sold. Using stock or "stolen" pics to sell a coin will only get the buyer mad.

Is it actually an 1846 Half Dime though? Like, are you 100% sure?
