Already the 8th coin in this series... time passes so quickly.
The problem is, due to my deteriorating vision I now need a microscope to see all the details and enjoy the beauty of those small coins.
Mintage of 10,000 is a bit high but the design is very nice indeed.

^^^ Yes, it is a small coin, but it looks great under a microscope/lens.
I believe last years coin in the series was 14,000 so 4,000 less this year.
It is a great design though for this year. Cheers

Retial price is the same as last year's issue ('RCMP'); not bad considering the mintage is drastically reduced.
Looks like this might become one of the more collectible coins in the series.

^^^ Hope so. I still haven't seen it in the stores yet. Looks like the best design in the series and the lowest mintage doesn't hurt.

Got mine today. I still think mintage should have been lower. We'll track but I don't think this coin will sell out quickly, if at all. The frost is also too coarse, as most proofs from the RCM lately IMO.

^^^ You lucky dog! Did you get it online or in a shop? Does it look nice in hand? 10,000 isn't bad though - it is headed in the right direction. The artwork is beautiful on it - the details in the wing feathers and composition are great. I know a few people who want this coin and I'm going to get one. I say it sells out. It would be nice if they could tighten up the frost - I wonder if the Mint is at it's limit at that size? Cheers Canadian Coins!

I ordered on line and usually I get my stuff later than Canadians but that's OK. In hand, the frost is way too coarse. I don't like it. Not at all like the Mint picture. And I also found something odd:

I looked at a picture of it on ebay. The coin looks like it will look great in hand. The 1's were the same as yours. Do you think there is two versions or that they changed the design overall at the last minute? I will pick one up this weekend (hopefully) and let you know about my 1's. Did you get a low number?

Hi penny, My COA is 257. Not sure about the 1's. I looked at the 2010, and the 1 is the same as the 2011. There are other differences between the artwork and the real coin; on the coin, Susanna Blunt's initials are larger and located right on the edge of the shoulder. The frost is much smoother on the artwork (the way it should be). Details on the birds are nowhere near as precise on the real coin.

Thanks Canadian Coins. Just got my coin today! It is great - I love it. My COA is in the 4000's! I take it the mint doesn't sequentially release coins in the series? My 1 is the same as yours. The original artwork is more detailed. The frosting seems to be in line with other coins in the series - could be lighter. Still very happy with the coin.

Nice coin and well-detailed, but a bit too 'cluttered' for my tastes; difficult to find one point of focus. No design yet in the series beats the near-perfect 2009 Red Maple.
