I went to the local coin shop today and felt like their Kennedy's were over priced. Where is the best and most optimal place to purchase Kennedy halves. I have been searching for a while on the forums and have one found one so far that was offered for a decent price in AU/BU condition. Let me know what you guys think.

It really depends on the coin and what grades you need, I would say ebay is the best for variety and I'm sure there are some good deals on there.

For circulation strikes, buy a roll at the bank.

I would have to ask .. what do you think is a good price. How are you coming up with what you think is a fair price.
I am asking this just to see where you are at, so maybe could give some good advice or point you into a good direction on how to get the price you like or maybe adjusting your price expectations.

Here is a quick example I have. When putting modern sets like this. many times it is cheaper to buy the complete mint set. Here is a site I sometimes use. if you shop around you can ever get better prices. Places like local coin shops, coin shows or ebay. http://app.vendio.com/storefront?vi...ode=1&pnum=3This site shows the 1985,1987 and 1988 set at $6.00. This will give you your P and D Kennedy for less then $3.00 each because you have all the other coins. And if I remember right the 1987 were only in the mint sets. meaning that year they were none put into circulation by the mint. If I am remembering that right.

As already noted see if a local bank has rolls of them. Also, check to see if they will order them for you. You will probably see a ton of 1971's, or at least that is what I constantly see. However, most banks have stopped ordering or even carrying half dollars so if you can find one that has some or will order them for you, good luck. Not sure where your at but you really should check for local coin shows. Not just the ones advertised on places like Google but also many local coin clubs have small, decent shows. If you can find coin shows you will get much cheaper, better conditioned coin for your money than anywhere on the internet.

I notice you are looking for a 1970 D. I think you may have trouble finding one of those. As for many of the others, they can all be had fairly cheap on ebay. even the 40% aren't that much in finer grades. I was recently given an uncirculated 2010 P & D set by a coin dealer I have done business with as a free gift. Not a huge score but definitely the right price. A decent dealer by the way. He has a good assortment of coins at reasonable prices. check out Dave's Collectible Coins online. You can probably find him on a google search. Tell him Mower sent you if you do

I second Dave's Collectible Coins... Dave Enders He has a website and a store on ebay... Prices are cheaper at the website. His images are good and if you study them, you can end up with very nice BU coins for not much money. (some years are more expensive of course) For the most part, a Gem is a Gem and sometimes much better. He often has choice coins that are 65's or so. I have had his "Gems" grade MS68 in some series. I have bought hundreds of coins from him... Just study the pics.

If you are in need of a 1970-D Kennedy, I would suggest for you to buy a 1970-D Mint Set rather than just the individual 70-D Kennedy. The mint set will be about the same price or very close to the 70-D Kennedy cost if you just bought the individual coin. So you get your 70-D Kennedy plus a uncirculated cent, nickel, dime and quarter for about the same amount of money.

Suggestions on seeking out 82 and 83 coins online? What should our expectation be?
