So I bought my first early copper....and I am still not sure how I did. It looks nice in hand, but when I took the picture and all of the flaws get magnified I wonder if it is corroded or not and how I did on price.

So my friends....What would you grade her? Did I do alright for a price of $43?

Thanks in advance for your valuable opinions. My inexperienced guess is VF20- details with problems of corrosion or cleaning with re-coloring or something?

Is it because I used the term friend in my topic that no one is responding

Or is the coin just so ugly....that everyone is in awe or sick to their stomach

Detail looks close to EF. Surfaces are rough from corrosion (A.K.A. Environmental Damage) and the rim damage is another strike against this coin. On the plus side, the corrosion appears stabilized.

Thanks for the grades and comments....I bought it on ebay off of some very bad pictures.

I could see some details were there...but the picture definitely did not portray corrosion.

I took the risk....Do you think $43 was way too much. Or do you think when I re-sell when I find an upgrade and will get near that amount back?

Way too much? No. Personally I would not pay $43 due to the corrosion/pitting, but consider that for a problem-free coin, RedBook is $75 VF, $120 XF, you did get quite a discount for the defects.
