American Legacy set sales hit 69% of limit
Sixty-nine percent of the maximum number of 2006 American Legacy Collection sets have been recorded sold by the United States Mint through Aug. 27.
Sales of the set, which began Aug. 15, reached 34,674 out of the maximum 50,000 available sets. The set incorporates the Proof 2006-P Benjamin Franklin, Founding Father and Proof 2006-S San Francisco Old Mint silver dollars along with the Proof 2006-S examples of the
Lincoln Cent, Jefferson 5-cent coin,
Roosevelt dime, the five
State Quarter dollars,
Kennedy half dollar and
Sacagawea dollar.
The sets went on sale at the same time as pre-issue discount sales for the 2006-S San Francisco Old Mint silver dollars and gold $5 half eagles. The pre-issue discount sales continue through Oct. 17, after which regular issue prices will be charged for any remaining coins.
The gold and silver coins, along with the American Legacy Collection sets, are not scheduled to be shipped to customers until Dec. 15. The last day the 2006-S San Francisco Old Mint commemorative sil- ver dollar and gold $5 half eagle coins can be produced, according to the authorizing legislation, is Dec. 31.
Sales of the 2006-S San Francisco Old Mint silver dollars reached 31.7 percent of the maximum 500,000 coins authorized, or 158,490 coins. Sales are represented by 39,587 single Uncirculated dollars, 84,229 single Proof dollars and 34,674 additional Proof dollars in the 2006 American Legacy Collection set.
Half eagle sales have reached 41.3 percent of the maximum 100,000-coin authorization, 41,325 coins, representing 29,255 of the single Proof gold coins and 12,070 of the single Proof Uncirculated coins.
The American Legacy Collection is being offered at $135 per set.
