I am learning everyday. I went ofer to the PCGS price guide site and looked at some of the photos there. Those MM's are definately above the dates but boy are they small compaired to the monogram.

BTW, even blowing up this area it looks too worn to be an MS67. It's still difficult to make out the "2'. And without the blowup the face is flat with no detail like the one on PCGS website shows.

I agree, it is definitely not a MS-67 coin. I guess I showed my ignorance about the series as well because I thought it looked like a D mint mark also. I would love to see that coin in hand and see if it was even a real coin. there is a man with the nick name Omega Man that made counterfeit double eagles that fooled allot of people for awhile and maybe he would have never gotten figured out if he hadn't put the omega sign hidden in the talon of the eagle on the reverse and that's why they named him the omega man

The Omega counterfeits have only been found for the 1907 high relief varieties that run well into the five figure range for value. An estimated 20,000 counterfeits exist and even a known counterfeit can command the same amount of money or even more than a common date St. Gaudens since the counterfeits have the correct gold alloy and are such an accurate design.

I am still hoping to see something official from ANACS regarding this coin and holder. Hopefully, we'll see a post here. I know it's probably too soon right now.

I doubt that James will email me with the results of this, but he will be answering questions here on the 26th. When he was here in January, he only let one question go by without answering it and that was because it was a question that really wasn't answerable since it would have revealed private ANACS info.

I would think that James will be more than happy to answer questions about this slab. It would be helpful to everyone to know how ANACS deals with fraud.
