Hi All
My first box of pennies and new to this, but looks good to me? Not sure if the non mint mark is common or not, but would this be it. Unfortunately this is the best pic I can get right now, waiting on better equipment as we speak.

I think you have it!

That sure looks like reverse of 89 to me! What a score for your first box of cents!

Here's a link with some really good photos for you to compare your coin with:

I don't think that's it...the top of the G should be shorter, but maybe it's just the picture...here is one of mine

The OP's coin looks like a RDV-005. The top of the G is in line with the bottom of the designer's initials.

The early use of the RDV-006 dies in 1988 were usually always early die state coins. So if the initials are extremely worn on a 1988 Cent, then they are usually a RDV-005.

I save a lot of words. An image is a better educational tool. Thus if you post something that I can use later, I add your images edited to my educational images. I'm pushing 1400 images to be used for these purposes. So thanks guys for showing your images. I'll put them to good use.

Also if you study the F in FG (006)
You can see the difference. Bottom of the vertical
is closer to the memorial and the second cross bar
loops upward a tad on the end. Also the FG is thicker overall.
