Looks close for a Retained Cud.

Thanks Coop! I've been away for a long while but now have time again to study. I sure appreciate all you're photos. They really help me understand more than just reading. I have many of your photos printed out for reference

Wouldn't both ends of the crack have to reach the rim for it to be a Retained Cud?

John1: Both ends would need to be to the edge of the die. On Free2bme's image the opposite edge is not shown. But looking at the lines on the wheat you can see where they are starting to separate away from the die making the devices slightly out of alignment. The edge of the die is not over the edge of the coin. Just short a little to create a gutter around the rim and makes if flow to the rim created in the upset process making the metal move toward that area. On a retained cut the Cud is partially attached and hasn't fallen off the die...YET.
