Hi grouse12, craig_vt only comes on the forum about once a week, so until he returns, I will post photos of some of those coins for you. I have used photos from http://www.cruzis-coins.com/ which is the best website for information and photographs of Australian coins.

The current and most past American coins are fairly dull
when it comes to interesting.

It is hard for me to pick one coin
Kookaburra,kangaroo, Mule- error

Since our mints keep pouring out the coins
I have taken some cheeky liberty with the national anthem and
Rearranged the words for us collectors.
My apologies for all those diggers who have fought to protect the sunburnt country,
but here is the Numismatists anthem

Australians all let us rejoice
For we are young and free
We've got gold and silver and wealth for toil,
Our home is girt by sea:
Our mints abound in beautiful coins
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page at every stage
Say advance Australian Mints,
In joyful strains then let us sing
advance Australian Mints.

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross,
We'll toil with hearts and hands,
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands,
For those who've come across the seas
We've boundless coins to share,
With courage let us all combine
To advance Australian Mints.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
advance Australian Mints.

boy am I in trouble now

(ASIS is watching for sure)

Good on yer, mate. If we can't take the piss out of ourselves, who can?
Our National sense of humour is famous in some parts of the world, just ask a Pom. (especially after yesterday)

I'm not sure how to answer this, since many coins I find "pretty" and what is valuable can be two different things to me. A lot of the Perth Mint coins are very stunning, but tend to drop in value.

The first 2 Ocean Series 2006 dolphin and clown fish colour dollars are very nice looking. I just wish they used a printer with better than 200dpi resolution cos under a magnifier they look really grainy. With my normal blurry eyes though they are quite nice. Looking forward to the rest in the series.

I like large coins too so most of the large silvers catch my attention. The 1937/38 Crown is very nice. So are the Perth Mint Kookas and the RAM Gold plated silver kangaroos. I don't have any gold kangas yet. The Millennium series is nice too but over my budget. Nearly forgot the fighter plane silver series.

Florins, I like Florins. Old gold does it for me too, not that I own many but Australian Sovereigns are on my list to collect. Especially the early Sydney mint sovs in UNC condition. After I rob a bank or 10. ;-) Which I will need to do to collect all the 1930 pennies, 1923 half pennies as well.

I'm not greedy really.

Good to see someone else with good tastes!

Mine is the 1947 version being the year of my birth.

Thanks to the generosity of Triggersmob, and others, I now have some very nice Australian coins.

For sheer beauty, I would have to say my favorites would be either the silver Lunar Series or the Kookaburras.

I might also mention that, yes I know my geography, and New Zealand is a bit distant from Australia, however, thanks to grouse12, I now have a 2006 Kiwi silver dollar. It is one of the most beautiful coins I have ever seen.

Australia or New Zealand -- what magnificent coins!!!!

1930 penny for me... The obvious one. And the 2000 $1/10cents mule is cool too. Obviously I don't own either though.
