1) SGS grading is a scam, it's not an MS-70 coin. 2) The pics are so small I can't see if there's gas bubbles nor can I grade the coin. 3) I'd give him $1 shipped at best for the coin. LOL

Definately not a 70. I've found better examples than that roll searching.

I can't see the pics, either. But, all I really need to know is SGS.
That aside, wouldn't zinc zits keep a coin from an MS70 grade anyway? Isn't the surface of the planchet part of the grading process?

Quote: BadThad $1; more like $.001 Your both incorrect. You really must take into consideration of postage, handling, insurances, time spent placing that add, envelope used for shipping, armed guard to take to the post office, helicopter survalance overhead. Total = $1.50

Why is SGS still in business? They grade almost anything MS-70 regardless of grade and its a well known among collectors.

I love that SGS guarantee -- they guarantee the "authenticity" of the coin but say nothing about their grade.
I think the first letter should stand for a different Four Letter Word than "Star"

If aboncom is not on the discouraged sellers list, they should be.

One reason I started this thread is seen if you click on his other items.
Now, I would never call anyone a bottom feeder... But if the shoe fits, he should....

Fenton...
See what I was hinting at? Now, click on the photos, and look at the 'grades' on some of his lots.

Quote:News: We are now designating Full Bell Lines on Franklin half dollars. On April 10, 2007, Star Grading Services was requested to submit a proposal for exclusive grading services for the American Numismatic Association. While we do not currently have the resources to do this, we viewed the request as a wonderful recognition of our growing popularity and market acceptance. An Independent Study has recently found that SGS currently accounts for 7% of all Graded Coins sold on the internet auction site ebay. Taken from the SGS website. It makes you wonder if he's ever heard the expression "You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig..."

Just a bit of misunderstanding there. What you do not realize is SGS is under the newest grading system of 100 points including decimals. Therefore a MS-70 is only about 3/4 of the full possible grading of MS-100. Soon you will see coins by SGS graded as MS-87.471 approximately.
