Looks like maybe acid dipped or a once buried coin.

Actually more likely a Dryer Coin since the rim is beaten in a little.

The rough surfaces are typical of a cent that has had the copper plating removed.

I know all about Dryer Coins,,I have found too many over the years,when I joined this forum I learned what they were,,would a campfire have the same affect,,

It looks like to me an example of a orange rind coin that has the copper plating removed. You can see the bumps that are under the plating still showing through. Later they perfected the rinsing technique and the bumps were not present as frequent as they were during th 80's on the Zincolns.
