That's it. Nice find. Nice early die state on the initials which it should be as they used these reverse dies to replace retired ones for 1988.

Joester compare the designer's initials on the posted coin to those on a normal 1988.

RDV means Reverse Die Variety and this is a transitional coin. The obverse and reverse dies have undergone numerous changes in the LMC series. When a coin is minted with mismatched dies, i.e. one die of the old design and one die of the new design, it is known as a transitional. This particular reverse was intended for 1989 issues.

well....you guys stink...I've been throwing 88's in the bucket without even checking. lol....I'll have to pay more attention. Anybody have good pics that show the proper reverse and the special reverse? What kind of premium for these?
On a related note, I did find a 61s today. Thats good, right?

What's wrong with the pic I provided?
Look at the reverse of any '88 and if the initials are like the one posted above, you have the transitional variety. Otherwise, it's the normal reverse.
You can also visit Variety Vista's website. They have all kinds of info there regarding designs and mintmarks.

1988 should have been RDV-005. Instead it is RDV-006
