The first thing I tried was sorting in reverse positions. To me the "O" looks like the high "O" tilted left. The subject coin date seems normal and doesn't appear to have the heavy die filing lines of the V-15. V-31 is a possibility at this stage but inconclusive. V-38 is also inconclusive due to the file lines on the reverse so I've determined thus far that my MM selection was wrong to start with.
On my second attempt and closer scrutiny of the MM it may be an O/O. Die polishing lines in the bow look appropriate along with what appears to be a small spike in the SE corner of the MM. My assumption then is a possible EDS of V-10 without the die crack above the MM. The picture in the Encyclopedia shows the MM without the die brake so I will tag the flip with VAM-10, EDS. nlp

I am going to treat this as a class room and take a stab at it a couple things hoping you will correct or confirm my guesses as I am just starting on VAMing. Going to say the date is on the far side of normal and the MM is high. Also a die chip at the base of the neck. Something going on there between the eagles neck and wing don't know what to call it but would use it as a point to look up at vamworld. Don't know what I should be looking for on the tailfeathers image.

I'm gonna take try at identifying die cracks & marks,I need to make sure I learn what to look for before I can attempt to ID any VAM. Hopefully I,m on the right track,to the left of the L in Pluribus I think I see a die crack also to the right top of the L seems to be an x?, Bottom of the L has a die gouge? Maybe I,m not awake yet but the spacing on the Wagon Wheel seem to be uneven spaces. At the base of the neck is a die crack, also seems to be a pit at the base of the hairline above O in date. Patiently await conformation or correction. VAM Book ordered. Rookie in Training

Sorry for the delay...I attributed this coin a year ago.AS VAM 13 do to the reverse HIGH "O" and polishing marks..on the reverse.NOTE...many a 04-0 has polishing lines in the bow and within the eagles legs...that are at precise angles .Which specifically...attribute it as VAM 13.....and since then others have added information,to the VAM 13 page connecting it to many other vams which are "incorrect"..(enter the public can add there won stuff"WIKI") and Alan has since wrote a book on this series..I needed to confirm...AS certain things you all would have seen "researching this simple process" would lead you astray.. these points were not there before....occurs with a rotation...not meaning that it has to, but implies it is ALWAYS rotated...WRONG for this particular VAM....and the listed die cracks...they could be on your coin or not. as die cracks are progressive of the dies life.... Points to consider..... This coin has a "high O"..not doubled... Date set left of normal but not a far date not a far date....and with the polishing in the BOW and the feathers and the tail feathers...and the main PUP is the line next to the eagles legs....its a "LOCK" on VAM 13....

DAD . A simple post...YUCK...but in the end.... the points shown are the answer... that is one of the problems of attribution, and why TPG's hate to put there money on the line...for big dollar vams, Unless the VAM is nailed down, but in this case its a common VAM. which is why I posted it... Still the point is.. the process of figuring it all out...and following the trail is the whole point... this is a great example of how there are bump's in the road....

This is an exciting vam ....as many a post wonders where are the PUP's pick up points...things that stand out and identify a VAM without having to research all of the normal channels/details to figure out what VAM you may have.. The triple second star is is an amazing PICK UP POINT....it points to 2 specific vams..of the 78 series...notice also this VAM or coin is separated from the 8TF coins/ and 7/8 TF.due to the parallel feathers... also note the NORMAL B2 reverses start at around 100....POINT OF INTEREST...vam 114 is always associated with VAM 117.. the pictures don't match up. just my observation here. While the thought of the open O in "god we trust" is the deciding factor.....The dramatic trippling of the second star is different...see with your own eyes....This is a coin that can be known by "one" pick up point alone......need a pick up point?

Ok I give with the doubling in Liberty and the tripled star would have to say it is a 117 but can't tell about the alligator eye. Maybe with the tripled star it is overwhelming me.

I'll attempt this 78, I am seeing a B2 Reverse, open O in God, scribbles and polishing/gouge marks on the reverse, Liberty is doubled, the first couple of right sided stars are also doubled, I am going with a Vam-117, possibly LDS.... OLDCOACH, WEthink alike, I am just 13 hours slow out of the gate, I need to check the posts before I attempt anything, congrats, if We are right.....

yes you are both right, recent posts have been about secret PICK UP POINTS...I chose this coin as if one see's the trippled star...you already have eliminated over 200 plus vams, as only 2 share this trippled star.....having seen this one would save much time by researching the difference between the two..the open O in god on the reverse...vam 117... Observation, of the main points and researching the listings will lead you to understanding..My posts are not intended to be a walk through like many PC games.. but rather to point a direction. of a general idea of vamming attribution. some years are very hard. as little is shown for points and pictures.. however most of these are very common coins or vams..and thats why there has not been much interest in posting attributes or photo's for common coins...
