What date can anyone tell me that they see on this coin I recently found in an old antique bubble gum machine.

Yeah, my guess would be 1945 then, 1948. Badly corroded!

I have take this coin to 5 different coin dealers. 1 said "maybe" 1945 and 1 said "I think 1948 but dont know for sure" and the other 3 were unable to make a decision. All 5 said to send it to be looked at with the right equipment because it could be, however very slip a 1943. This is the only angle to where it looks like any kind of number whether it be 5 8 or 3. Here are 3 pics. 2 of the coin, one in black and white and a pic of the 1943 steel. Compare them all side by side.

Which ever year it is worth melt. Too far gone to be anything collectable. To me it looks like 48.
