I know the pics aren't too great, but what are your thoughts?

I'm not sure from the images if it's dateless or not, I'd say G-6.

The date is definitely weak, but I can see an outline of the 4 digits on the top right photo. The bottom of the 6 is more evident in the other photos.

Thanks! I was thinking G-6 too, or 4 at minimum. I've been searching for a decent G+ at the right price for my collection, and this may be a perfect fit. I will admit to being a bit of a hypocrite with this purchase , since it was raw. I've had luck with this date in the past, and havent heard of a counterfeit that had all of the diagnostics right; so I trusted my gut and went with a bid and hopefully got a great price. I think I will be fine as long as it's genuine. The seller has solid feedback, and a return policy. I also should be receiving it in time to take it to the Long Beach coin show and hopefully get some expert opinions before deciding to keep it. I will get some better pics when it arrives. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWNX:IT

Nice pickup! I agree with G6. I would submit to PCGS at Long Beach. I have a few to submit myself ;-)

Thanks Vermont. I've never submitted anything through PCGS before. I assume you need to have a membership to submit through them at the show as well as from home? I was originally planning to submit it to ANACS(I still have the dateless PO-01 to submit too), but this one may warrant PCGS.

Another beauty Johnny! I would also go with a G-4 (at a minimum) and possibly to G-6. NICE!

Quote: Another beauty Johnny! I would also go with a G-4 (at a minimum) and possibly to G-6. thanks Moe! Quote: VG-8 Keep your fingers crossed for me Brian! A vg grade would be wicked cool, though I think there would need to be more 'date' detail than I can see. Usually the lower loop of the 6 is clear in the VG grade, but since these aren't great pics it may be hiding some detail...I can dream. There are a few VGs with this overall detail though.

Yeah, reverse is VG and with such a key date that tends to be poorly struck up, I was hoping.

It's not quite as nice as I hoped....but I think it is still ok for what I paid. The lower part of the 6 and 9 are visible, with a bit of a lump on the 3rd "1" in the right light. I think the obverse received an old cleaning at some point as it has a bit of shine to it, I'm not sure if a TPG would overlook it or not. The reverse is AWESOME! It's a G-4 details coin at worst....best would be a G-6 problem free...so $2000-ish after rebates was ok. No way would it make VG. I think ANACS is my best bet since I can get a details grade.

No inputs on the new pics? This is making me nervous, as this just happens to be the MOST expensive coin I've ever purchased. :-O Is no news, good news?

Well, it's off to ANACS today, along with my PO1. This will be my 3rd and 4th 1916 slq I've sent to ANACS in the last year...I'm hoping that wont raise any unfounded suspicion.
